Extreme Emotion

Walter plotted to the front door after returning home from his terminated job only to find I.R.S bills sitting on the counter. He opened the fridge and angrily grabbed a beer as his wife walked into the front room and started her usual nagging about how he doesn’t work hard enough and how he is lazy. Walt finally snapped and threw the empty beer bottle across the room. Whether it be rage, sadness, or even love dealing with extreme emotions is very important to physical and emotional health to decrease the risk of heart attacks and heart disease or build up emotional stability.
Extreme emotions can affect physical and emotional health. For example, when in rage muscles flex and tighten, the heart starts to beat and pump blood faster, and the culprit usually ends up doing something that they regret later on. Also migraines and headaches can occur after the raging is over. Stressing the heart like that over a period of time can lead to the risk of heart attacks. There are multiple heart diseases and cardiovascular diseases that can be traced back to the continual heart stresses and rage and can cause critical damage to your overall health. Dealing with this continual rage, strategies could be taking deep breaths, counting to ten, and walking away from the scene. In doing so this could prevent ,on a large scale, divorce, anxiety, and even more stress mentally and physically.
In addition, having an excess of love can become a problem also in handling extreme emotions. For example, falling “in love” or moving to quickly in a relationship causes an open heart, vulnerable to heartbreak and disappointing relationships. Getting to know the person before taking it any further, or not showing your true feelings about the person in the beginning are strategies to accompany a true relationship. Having a cautious heart can build up emotional stamina and/or lead to a long and happy relationship.
In the end having patients, unlike Walter throwing his beer across the room, having the willpower to take the time to control or get help for the extreme emotions can leave a person with overall better health. Also being cautious with your affection and heart can lead to a better and happy relationship.

Effects of Living an Extremely long life

Effects of living an extremely long life

Living a long life is a wish that has been around forever. Think about it, were always thinking of some new way to live longer, exercise more, eat healthier, or get more sleep.Although living an extremely long life seems awesome there are some disadvantages that we may not usually think about. Therefore, beneficial factors might include getting to see the mars landing, however watching friends and family die might not be so intriguing.
The advantages of living an extremely long life make living forever put on your wish list. One key benefit to being around forever would be the experience gained during this eternity. For example, in the movie Interstellar the N.A.S.A space program sent astronauts on a mission through a black hole to another galaxy to possible “new earth” candidates. Now if this is to ever happen it is definitely not going to be any time soon, but wouldn’t it be amazing to be around if it ever does. With the “superpower” of living extremely long anything and everything on a “to do list” could be completed, whether that would be traveling to far off destinations, writing 1,000 novels, experiencing exotic cuisines or sleeping for 20 hours a day. I like to think about how just living for an extra 50 years would be, just think about how far technology has come in the last 50 years and think how far it will come in he next 50 years.
living an extremely long life is well thought up and may seem great; but disadvantages like ennui after having “seen it all and done it all” or losing the “will to live”, need to be considered. Some of the major disadvantages are taking life for granted, watching friends and family die, and losing the conviction to try to make a difference. As time passes being able to relate to new friends would get harder and harder because culture and manners of people change over long periods of time.
Therefore, whether a person is attempting to drink from the fountain of youth or stick to that special veggie diet living forever or living an extremely long life can only be fully understood by experiencing the eternity. So rather than getting caught up in the everyday workout one might consider that a fully formed opinion can only come from experience.

I Am A Riddle

Preston Ware English 1-7

A riddle
some look and see gibberish
some look and think
I’m a geek
or socially awkward
but I am simply
A riddle

A riddle that is not
easy and simple
or short and sweet
A riddle with
intertwining complexity
and ironic plot twist

Most can’t read my hidden message
most don’t recognize the forest for the trees
But some
very few
can read my secret message like an enigma machine
some ignore the the trees for the forest
some see the true meaning of the riddle

Rather my meaning is contorted
or my answer is guessed
I am
seen
read
written
The nor geeky or socially awkward boy
is a riddle
Twist, sarcasm, and trickery all in
A Riddle

Perseverance

The importance of Perseverance

Often times the first attempt at something may seem hard, impossible or even scary, but having the courage and perseverance to keep trying is how to achieve true success. Just like the Wright brothers, we often times expect success immediately when it only comes from trial and error. Therefore, the real challenge isn’t the goal, it’s having the courage or perseverance to continue trying.
Having the courage to continue to try can be difficult especially in a dangerous situation. For example, in 1903, Wilbur Wright lost a coin toss and was the first brother to test the prototype aircraft and crash but was that the last attempt the Wright brothers had, no way, three days later the brother managed to fly over 120 feet. As civilized people, I think we become accustom to a schedule that doesn’t involve a lot of big risk and chance taking. So the hardest part isn’t actually “landing on the moon” it’s “stepping into the rocket”. Just like Wilbur or his brother having the courage to keep trying is a way that success comes after initial failure or setbacks.
It is important to keep perseverance when achieving a goal because without perseverance most achievements won’t come. To illustrate, Albert Einstein before the nuclear bomb, before the Theory of Relativity, before proving the entire science community wrong, was a patent clerk and before that he sold insurance. Even after his father dying, thinking Einstein was a miserable failure, Einstein continued to persevere his goals and eventually end a world war. Without Einstein’s perseverance none of his grand achievements would have ever happened. Long story short, Einstein, a genius as viewed today, had many failures and struggles before his science career took off but by the perseverance and his pure iron will he managed to change the world.
Altogether, it’s important when achieving goals, to keep not only perseverance but also courage because without these two most if not all, dreams, goals and careers will come crumbling down.

Eating disorders

Eating disorders are marked by extremes. People with an eating disorder may severely reduce the amount of food they eat, or eat an unusually large amount of food, or be extremely concerned about their weight or shape. They may start out simply eating smaller or larger portions than usual, but at some point the urge to eat more or less spirals out of control.

There are three main types of eating disorders: anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge-eating disorder. People with anorexia nervosa see themselves as overweight even though they are dangerously thin from starving themselves. People with bulimia nervosa eat unusually large amounts of food (binge eat) and then compensate by purging (vomiting, taking laxatives or diuretics), fasting or excessive exercise. People with binge-eating disorder binge but do not purge, and they often become overweight or obese. Eating disorders may occur along with depression, substance abuse, or anxiety disorders, and can cause heart and kidney problems, even death. The disorders show up most frequently during teenage years, but there are indications they may develop earlier or later in life. Why some people are at risk for eating disorders isn’t clear. But surveys show that depression is often a factor. In a 2008 study by researchers at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, for example, 24% of bipolar patients met the criteria for eating disorders. An estimated 44% had trouble controlling their eating. As many as half of all patients diagnosed with binge eating disorder have a history of depression, according to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive andKidney Diseases. Binge eating afflicts 3% of adults in the U.S., making it the most common eating disorder.
