The importance of Perseverance

Often times the first attempt at something may seem hard, impossible or even scary, but having the courage and perseverance to keep trying is how to achieve true success. Just like the Wright brothers, we often times expect success immediately when it only comes from trial and error. Therefore, the real challenge isn’t the goal, it’s having the courage or perseverance to continue trying.
Having the courage to continue to try can be difficult especially in a dangerous situation. For example, in 1903, Wilbur Wright lost a coin toss and was the first brother to test the prototype aircraft and crash but was that the last attempt the Wright brothers had, no way, three days later the brother managed to fly over 120 feet. As civilized people, I think we become accustom to a schedule that doesn’t involve a lot of big risk and chance taking. So the hardest part isn’t actually “landing on the moon” it’s “stepping into the rocket”. Just like Wilbur or his brother having the courage to keep trying is a way that success comes after initial failure or setbacks.
It is important to keep perseverance when achieving a goal because without perseverance most achievements won’t come. To illustrate, Albert Einstein before the nuclear bomb, before the Theory of Relativity, before proving the entire science community wrong, was a patent clerk and before that he sold insurance. Even after his father dying, thinking Einstein was a miserable failure, Einstein continued to persevere his goals and eventually end a world war. Without Einstein’s perseverance none of his grand achievements would have ever happened. Long story short, Einstein, a genius as viewed today, had many failures and struggles before his science career took off but by the perseverance and his pure iron will he managed to change the world.
Altogether, it’s important when achieving goals, to keep not only perseverance but also courage because without these two most if not all, dreams, goals and careers will come crumbling down.
